While I 'renovated' this magnificent automobile, it is no longer in my possession. Stuart Maddox of Memphis (Scoutiitt@cs.com) purchased it from me in 2002. When Stuart was growing up, his parents had an IDENTICAL car and he has many fond memories of his childhood in the car. I'm very happy that it went to a good home.

I found a new treasure and here it is:
It is a super original 54 Custom Imperial Four Door Sedan with very rare factory air and, the best part, 71000 ORIGINAL miles. This car was purchased from Mr. King of Guntersville, Alabama and has been stored for years, probably 12+ in an unheated store building in the small town of Town Creek, Alabama.
Mr. King is an original piece of work. I saw the car when we went to get Jeff Carrothers 56 Imperial but he would not quote a price. I could not stop thinking about it and during the Anniston gathering I called him and he quoted me a price out of a 6 year old price guide. I said 'yes' on Saturday and the following Monday, I took him a check.
I went into his clothing store in Guntersville and we were looking at some photos of his cars. He pointed at a picture of a 54 and said, "That's the one you're trying to buy." Quickly I pulled the cashiers check from my pocket, handed it to him and replied, "Trying hell!" During my visit, he realized he had quoted me a low price but it did not seem to bother him and I certainly did not offer to pay more than we had agreed.
The following Saturday, March 31st, a bunch of friends met at the old store to help extract the 54 from the building. Donald Taccone, Tom Nichols, and Richie Halpin drove up from Birmingham. Robert Soule and his friend Ray drove to my house early this morning, met up with Ken Newberry and we all drove over to Town Creek in the 73 Imperial. Ray Hickey, Randy and Nell Owen drove over from Huntsville and we all got there right at 9am. I was pretty excited.
Follow along as I discover, repair, and restore this magnificent automobile.
