A 1962 Imperial Crown Convertible

Imperial Home -> Imperials by Year -> 1962 -> Crown Convertible

We recently saw this beautiful Crown Convertible for sale. Here's what the seller had to say about the car:
Very, very rare! Only 554 were ever produced. Less than 50 known to still exist and only a handful in this condition. Exquisite in triple black! Over $25,000 were spent to bring this magnificent Chrylsler "Land Yacht" back to showroom condition.

In the past 10 years I have only seen two other examples of this car...and the last one I actually was able to drive was a beautiful example in a light gold finish...it sold for $36,500 at a vintage car auction last January in Ft. Lauderdale,Florida.

When one talks about "MECHANICAL ART" from the 1960's...the Crown Imperial Convertible has to be on anyone's top TEN list. Take some time and study this car from all angles...it's incredible...From the space-age giant tail lights that seem to float in space, to the trim and markings and of course the amazing front headlights, grille and hood ornament...Detroit art at it's pinnacle.

In addition to the car's amazing looks, Chrysler was the innovator of many engineering marvels. I love the push-button automatic transmission and the pop-up air-conditioning vents.

My 19 year old Son describes this car simply as "Amazingly Neat!" and I have to agree with him...this is one neat Convertible...and is as good as investment as one could ever find...and the best part is while your $$$ is appreciating...it's a ball to drive.

I started out early this morning to take the Imperial on a short test drive....and 3 hours later I was having lunch in beautiful Key West.....and after about 100 "thumbs up".....I stopped counting. Talk about a "head-turner" This Crown Imperial really has it all. Additionally the car performed perfectly, ran whisper quiet and never overheated. The charging system works perfectly and the car has good compression and oil pressure!

Mechanically the car drives phenominal...The Engine & Transmission were rebuilt when the car was restored a few years ago...along with all of the cosmetic restoration. I have recently fixed the original radio & air-conditioning (it's ice cold) and taken care of any other elctronic or mechanical items that needed to be addressed. This car is ready to drive, show and enjoy! The engine compartment is nicely detailed and the trunk area is immaculate as well

If you're the new owner, come join the Imperial club and tell us more about this beauty!
