LeBarons were only made as 4-door cars but a wealthy man in Southern California ordered this Imperial from his local Chrysler dealership as a LeBaron 2-door hardtop. He kept the car for about 24 years and sold it to the second owner who, after over 20 years of ownership, sold it to us.
The Imperial is all original except for the paint about 20 years ago and front brakes have been changed to disc brakes (and they work perfectly). The car runs and drives excellent. The body is probably as good today as it was in 1962! It's absolutely straight and rust-free. I did find some surface rust in the trunk floor but I am not sure if you'd get any holes to repair even if you sandblast the trunk floor!
The paint could be redone, it's showing it's age. Chrome is mostly very good. There's a small ding in the rear bumper and a few pieces of the potmetal has some light pitting.
Mechanically, there's nothing to do, the car runs excellent and is a plesure to drive. The 413 has all the power you need and with the disc brakes in front you can slow down the heavy car without any problems. Everything on the dash works, all gauges and even the radio works.
We just had a new carpet installed and the front seat is sent out for new cloth (100% original). The original doorpanels are also excellent, headliner is almost like new, the dashpad has started to curl up only very little in one spot by one of the vents. There are two cracks in the cool rectangular steering wheel.
Check out the beautiful profile of the car, it looks really good with the small Lebaron rear window and the profile of the rear part of the roof.
We just installed new Chrysler reproduction wire wheels (zenith/roadster) with new wide white walll radial tires at a cost of almost $2500. they don't have 50 miles on them.
The original owner did not want much chrome on the Imperial so it was delivered without stainless wheel opening mouldings and no rockerpanel mouldings, I have two NOS rocker panel mouldings and two sets of used wheel opening mouldings that will go with the car. I was going to repaint the Imperial and install them and the next owner will have the option to keep it as originally ordered or with more bright work!
