Imperial Home -> Imperials by Year -> 1961 -> Crown with Cut-Down Fins
We recently saw this white Imperial for sale. Notice how the rear fins have been cut down. Compared with other '61s, it makes for a very unusual car. Other than this modification, this car seems very clean and well maintained. Here's what the seller had to say about it back in July of 2004:
The vehicle is in running condition and is a nice car. The original owner drove this car until his family took his keys away after his ninetieth birthday in 1989. The bumpers have a few dents and some flaking. There are a few scratches and dings here and there, no rust in the quarters, no rust in either rocker panel, and no bondo. The frame rails and floor pans look great, and the truck pan looks good. The interior and exterior chrome has some pitting and there is some small surface rust here and there from those old dings and scratches. The interior is great and excellent for a daily driver, but the front bench has tears in the cloth, drivers arm rest is tore and taped, the backbench is great, the headliner is clean, and the interior passenger rear door handle is broken. The dash and carpet look great, but not all the dash gauges work. The glass is all there but there are a few small chips in the windshield. The car had been sitting for 15 years and some things needed to be attended to after that length of time. It has a reconditioned fuel tank and radiator, a new fuel pump and filter, new plugs and wires, new distributor and points, ignition coil, starter relay, and voltage regulator. Needs carburetor and brake work. The 16,800 odometer reading cannot be confirmed as the original owner is deceased. This is my honest description of the vehicles condition. This is a clean California car that has lived its entire life in the San Francisco Bay AreaWe'd love to learn more about this car.
