1954 Chrysler Imperial Crown Convertible PROTOTYPE

Imperial Home Page -> Imperials by Year -> 1954 -> Imperial Crown Convertible Prototype

This Car is a PROTOTYPE 1 of 1 car that never went into production at Chrysler.

This is one very rare 1954 Chrysler Imperial Crown Hemi Convertible and the one and only produced in existence? This is a well preserved original 78,000 mile car has not seen daylight in over 20 years. A rare opportunity to own a 1 off Chrysler convertible prototype that never went into production.
The Chrysler Imperial convertible was dropped in 1951 with only 650 made and did not show up until 1954 as a solitary prototype. We have researched this car and the Imperial registry shows that there was one car built in 1954 and this is the car. It also shows the category for the VIN# and this VIN# does fall within that category. It also shows the engine number for this car and it is also matches correct.
The VIN# is 7780190 and the Hemi motor number is c54 8 36066 and the intake manifold number is 5 25 54.

The car has its original 331 Hemi engine; runs great with no smoke, knocks or noises. The original Powerflite transmission goes right into gear and works as it should. This is the correct numbers matching motor and trans which the car was born with. The car has power steering, power windows, power seat and power top all intact, but may need attention from sitting. The car currently has a Holly carb on it now that works fine, but the original carb and oilbath air cleaner are present and will come with the car.

All of the interior side panels are present in their original materials, but are removed and will come with the car. All door handles, mirrors are also present and go with the car. The only thing missing is the rear seat and the radio. The headlights and the horn and the electrical seems to work good. The car is extremely straight and solid, with no rot to be found. The inner rockers are very nice as is the bottoms of the quarters, fenders and doors. All very straight and the doors, hood, etc open and close very nice. All trim is intact and all the glass is good as you will see in photos. The power steering is amazing, the car steers with one fingerlike butter! The trunk floor and spare tire well are very solid with some minor pin holes. The floor pans are super solid. The undercarriage and frame looks straight, solid undamaged and clean.
This is 1954 Chrysler Imperial prototype convertible car starts, runs and drives as it should. All of the top mechanisims are present, but the hydraulic cylinders are disconnected to put the top down. I hit the switch and can hear it clicking, I think it may need cleaning and fluid? All of the Imperial emblems are present as well as all the crowns. The off white/cream color paint is 30 plus years old and will need new paint, but all of the body panels look straight, rust free with no bondo. The brakes redone years ago on all 4 corners including master cylinder and brake lines, but the right front line is currently leaking. By looking at this car, all of the body lines, fenders, doors all line up perfectly with no funny gaps and evident that it has never been in a accident.

A rare once in a life time opportunity to own a 1 of 1 - 1954 Chrysler Imperial Crown Hemi Convertible prototype that never went into production. This car was recently offered for sale online.
