Imperial
added new body styles and trim options to their car line-up for
1927. There was a new business 
coupe
and a fully closed 5-passenger coupe. There was also a special order
Town car which had an open chauffeur compartment, leather roof
covering, landau bars, dual sidemount spares and luxurious trim.
Basic engineering was little changed from 1926, though. There was a
reduction in tire size and a reduction in axle ratio to 4.10:1 which was
done to reduce engine noises at top speed.
An Imperial made a
high-speed, non-stop run of 6,726 miles from the Golden Gate Bridge in San
Francisco, California to New York City's Brooklyn Bridge and back across country
to Los Angeles, California. The car's average speed was 40.2 miles per
hour in a miraculous 8 days!!
