"V" Series Body Highlights
NEW GUARDED SAFETY DOOR LATCH AND STRIKER
The following models will have a new safety door latch and striker:
Imperial, Plymouth, Valiant, Dodge, and Dart. Strength and reliability are designed into both striker and latch mechanisms to provide safety for car occupants when doors are either fully or partially latched.
The full width bearing surface provided by the striker ensures secure latching at all times. The cast malleable iron striker has no protruding edges to snag the clothing of person�s entering or leaving the car. Adjustment and installation remain the same.

NEW SEAT BELT ANCHORS
Seat belt anchors have been relocated and redesigned. This provides a neater installation. Anchor pads are further forward and are located on tunnel and on the sill risers. Shoulder bolts replace the eye bolts.

REAR QUARTER WINDOW - PLYMOUTH AND DODGE
Plymouth and Dodge two door hardtop models will have a new quarter glass. The glass is attached to the lower glass frame by the use of two attaching screws inserted through holes in the glass.

PLYMOUTH AND DODGE QUARTER GLASS ADJUSTMENTS
UPPER ADJUSTMENTS
The upper track attachment can be moved in and out and fore and aft. The rear quarter glass should be approximately one inch below the roof rail weatherstrip when the track is being moved forward or rearward.

LOWER ADJUSTMENT
The lower track attachment can be moved in or out as necessary. the pivot bracket can be adjusted up or down to make the quarter glass parallel.

|
QUARTER GLASS REMOVAL
Remove the quarter window attaching screws and lift the glass up and out of the opening.
|
|
REAR WINDOW WEATHERSTRIPS
A new offset rear window weatherstrip is used on the following models: Imperial, Chrysler, Plymouth, and Dodge Two Door Hardtops, and all Dart Models. The glass is positioned outside the fence. This installation provides better sealing, less exposed weatherstrip, and more exposed glass area.

REAR GLASS AND WEATHERSTRIP REMOVAL
The glass and weatherstrip must be removed and installed as a unit. The use of a upping twine inserted in the weatherstrip outer groove is required to install glass and weatherstrip.

VALIANT
Valiant models will continue to use the mylar locking strip in the rear window weatherstrip. The mylar strip will consist of two separate pieces. The two lower ends of the mylar will fit under aluminum caps inserted into the weatherstrip.

|
CONVERTIBLES - ALL MODELS - TENSION CABLES
All convertible models have tension cables inserted in the top covering over the door and quarter windows. The tension cables will provide smoother appearance when the top is in the raised position, and prevent flapping.

DOUBLE SEALED BELT-LINE
Convertibles will continue to use a double sealed fastening arrangement to reduce belt�line water leaks.

CHRYSLER AND DODGE 880
The Chrysler and Dodge 880 will have a new top boot installation. The boot is retained by a retainer on the rear seat back.

IMPERIAL
The Imperial will have a three piece top boot installation. The center section of the boot is retained by a retainer on the rear seat back. The two formed rigid plastic outer sections are attached to the inner sections by the use of Velcro closures.

PLYMOUTH AND DODGE
Roofs on sedans, four door hardtops, and station wagons are higher and provides more head room in both front and rear seats.
Visibility is improved by extending the lower edge of the windshield downward. The upper edge of the glass is slightly nearer the vertical than it was on the 1963 models.

IMPERIAL DOOR AND QUARTER MECHANISMS AND ADJUSTMENTS-REINFORCED DOORS
The Imperial door mechanisms are completely new. The front doors have horizontal cross members welded to door inner panel pillar face and a mastic material is sandwiched between cross member and outer panel. The window regulators attach to cross members.

IMPERIAL REAR DOOR CROSS MEMBER
The rear doors also have the horizontal crossmember bonded to the outer door panel. (In the same manner as the front doors.)

IMPERIAL TWO DOOR AND CONVERTIBLE QUOARTER PANEL CROSS MEMBER
On two door models, the outer quarter panels forward and rearward of the wheel well, are also stiffened by a horizontal section beam attached to the panel inner surface.

SEALING
The top edge of all side glass frames are beveled to shed water.
|
|
DOOR WEATHERSTRIPS
New seals on front and rear doors are designed to shed water.
|
|
ROOF RAIL WEATHERSTRIPS
New roof rail weatherstrips are more effective against water and air leaks. Ends are retained much better.
|
|
DECK LID HINGE
New deck lid hinge arms are fully enclosed.
|
|
DOOR MECHANISMS
The Imperial door mechanisms are completely new. The heavily reinforced doors are much more stable.
IMPERIAL FRONT DOOR GLASS
The front door glasses are supported at the rear by a roller track that uses a center support. The lower glass frame is supported at the rear by two roller guide assemblies.

IMPERIAL FOUR DOOR HARDTOP REAR GLASS
The rear door also has the roller guide assembly attachment.
|
|
IMPERIAL IMPROVED GLASS INSTALLATION
The front of the lower glass frame is guided by nylon covered stabilizer channels.

|
IMPERIAL REAR QUARTER GLASS
The rear quarter glass attachment is the same as the rear door glass.
|
|
IMPERIAL ADJUSTMENTS
The division channel on the lower end of the vent wing can be adjusted in or out and fore and aft.
The vent wing frame can be tilted in or out by adjusting the sleeve nut. To move the vent wing assembly fore or aft, it is necessary to loosen the upper and lower attaching bolts.

ALIGNING DOOR GLASS WITH VENT WING
To align the door glass with the vent wing, loosen the pivot bracket.
|
|
FRONT DOOR REAR TRACK ADJUSTMENT
With the door glass in the raised position, move the upper fore and aft attachment forward. Lower the glass and move lower fore and aft attachment forward. The center track support must be loosened when making these adjustments.
To move the glass in or out at the cat�s whisker, move rear track upper attachment in or out. To align the top of the glass with the roof rail weatherstrip, move rear track lower attachment in or out.

REAR DOOR UPPER ADJUSTMENTS
The upper attachment on the rear track can be adjusted fore and aft, and in and out. The inner stabilizer channel upper attachment can be moved in and out. To align the glass with the roof rail weatherstrip and the front door glass, loosen the pivot bracket front screw.

REAR DOOR LOWER ADJUSTMENTS
The rear track lower attachment can be adjusted in or out as necessary. When adjusting the rear track upper or lower adjustments, the center track adjustment must be loosened. The lower stabilizer channel can be adjusted in or out.

REAR QUARTER GLASS UPPER ADJUSTMENTS
The rear upper track attachment can be moved in and out, fore and aft. The upper inner stabilizer attachment can be adjusted in or out. To align the glass with the roof rail weatherstrip and the front door glass, loosen the pivot bracket front screw.

REAR QUARTER GLASS LOWER ADJUSTMENTS
The rear track lower attachment can be moved in or out. When the upper or lower rear track adjustments are made, the center attachment should be loosened. The stabilizer channel lower attachment can be moved in or out as necessary.
IMPERIAL DOOR AND QUARTER GLASS REMOVAL
The door and quarter glass removal and installation is easier. The retaining spring nuts are installed on the regulator stud arms so that the spring nuts can be seen after the clip has been installed.

FRONT DOOR GLASS REMOVAL
To remove the front door glass, it is necessary to remove the two up stops and the down stop. Remove the two spring nuts. j

REAR DOOR GLASS REMOVAL
To remove the rear door glass, it is necessary to remove the two up stops and the down stop. Remove the two spring nuts.

|
REAR QUARTER GLASS REMOVAL
To remove the rear quarter glass, it is necessary to remove the two up stops and the down stops. Remove the two spring clips.
|
|
WINDSHIELD AND REAR WINDOW MOULDINGS
To remove the rear window or mouldings on the Crown Four Door Hardtop, it is necessary to remove the deck opening upper panel.

|
REAR WINDOW MOULDING
The right moulding should be removed first. Use a thin plastic wedge when removing the mouldings.
|
|
WINDSHEILD MOULDING ATTACHMENTS
Remove the pillar mouldings first when removing the windshield mouldings. It is necessary to remove the two attaching screws from the upper moulding before removing the moulding.

|
BODY TO FRAME ISOLATORS
New butyl rubber isolators cushion the body from vibrations. Fourteen isolators are used.
|
|
IMPERIAL NEW SAFER HOOD LATCH
A new positive closure-type hood latch is used on Imperial Models. The latch, while retaining the inside cable release mechanism, is now a new plate type unit. The new bar type striker is fixed to the hood.
