Question from Norm:
One of my cars has what I believe is a lumpy tire-probably from sitting. Rims and all else are good. I read somewhere that the way to isolate that is to pump up the tires to at least 50 lbs and drive on them that way for a while to round them out. Then, let the air out of one at a time until you feel the lumpiness. Question: can radials take super inflation to 50lbs cold without bursting?
Reply from Steve:
Short answer: DON'T DO IT! My experience is that at best, over-inflating (exceeding the pressure embossed on the sidewall) a radial will separate the sidewalls, at worst will turn the tire into a bomb!
