"Don't you think we'd better leave before they sic the hounds on us?" asks Merritt.  "Oh, they won't.  It's mine...well, not exactly mine, but it will be someday" Ryder responds.

Another co-ed, Melanie (played by Yvette Mimieux) wanders the streets in a haze of disillusionment after losing her innocence.  This scene seems designed to showcase the 1960 Chrysler line-up as various Mopars, like this 1960 Dodge, whiz past the crazed girl.

Dolores Hart and George Hamilton display their ability to subtly convey surprise as they come upon Melanie wandering in the middle of the road.  They must swerve to the shoulder to avoid hitting her.

Another near-collision is avoided as Ryder flings Melanie out of the road to the safety of the shoulder.  Note that Ryder's '59 Imperial convertible now sports the optional flightsweep decklid, which was lacking in earlier scenes.
