A cold, calculating psychiatrist has murdered his wife with the aid of his young lover, but now has Columbo hot on his tracks. Here the doctor persuades his friend, the district attorney, to ask that Columbo be taken off the case.

The doctor prepares to tool off in his 1967 Imperial Crown convertible, happy in the knowledge that Columbo will no longer be around to hound him. Or so he thinks....

After Columbo has been putting the pressure on the doctor's young lover/murder accomplice, he finds out that she has committed last night suicide by overdosing on sleeping pills. The doctor races over to her house...
