Private
detective Philip Marlowe (James Garner) is confronted by a mob thug as
he exits a high-rise apartment building. An amusing exchange, in
typical Garner fashion, ensues as the mobster orders Garner to a waiting
limo. Thug: "Car." Garner:
"Beep, beep." |

Marlowe
(Garner) has some pictures that Steelgrave wants, and gets his jacket
torn up as they search his pockets for them. "Does
your mother know what you do for a living?" he asks one of
them. |

James Garner
and Rita Moreno take a ride in her 1968 Imperial Crown Convertible on
the way to the mansion owned by Steelgrave, who has apparently just been
murdered by Moreno's friend. |

"You
do a lot of fetching and carrying for Mavis, don't you?" asks
Garner. "Why not? We go way back." Notice
how comfortable those '68 Imperial leather seats look! |

In this scene
Garner guesses correctly that Moreno had been romantically involved with
Steelgrave. |
